Killah Cortez aka Greg Cortez is a music producer, songwriter and podcaster based in Los Angeles. Working mainly in the genres of pop, indie, alternative and acoustic genres, Cortez is richly creative with a remarkable gift of enhancing projects and taking listeners on a journey. Born in the San Fernando Valley, he discovered early on that music soothed his soul. Stirred by artists who bore their truth, Cortez was inspired by the likes of The Beatles, The Smashing Pumpkins, and Elliott Smith.
Keen to express himself through music, Greg studied at Hollywood’s Musician’s Institute before quickly gaining an internship at Mad Dog Studio in Burbank, CA. Cortez’s next role soon came at New Monkey Studio in Van Nuys, CA (former studio of Elliott Smith), working with artists such as Billy Ray Cyrus, The Kooks, Cheekface, Kim Deal, Ab-Soul and L.A. Guns, to name a few. As a songwriter, his authenticity speaks volumes; penning songs for a variety of artists. Many of the music projects he’s worked on have elevated in various ways. The track, “S.O.S.-Sawn-off-Shotgun” by The Glorious Sons, peaked at #1 on the Billboard rock charts.
Killah Cortez lives in Los Angeles, CA and is available to travel for speaking engagements and audio production.
